My router is connected to my box, via the usb port. In order for networking to work correctly, I needed to add |^usb[0-9]\| to the connect.lunar file. Unfortunately this didn't seem to be persistant, after further config/ reboots. As i'm new to Lunar, I'm not sure why that is. Please could usb be added to this file by default, like it is for eth0, etc? I think the problem is related to start_logging() and stop_logging() in loggin.lunar, line 21 and 28. The command 'date -u' prints date in a format that depends on the local language. However, the perl function used in lvu to convert dates and make the calculation (str2time), doesn't handle other languages than English, German, Italian and French. It could be better to store dates in a language independent format, maybe date -u +'%F %H:%M:%S'? ====================================================================== ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sofar - 08-18-08 19:09 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- fixed in SVN by using `date -Ru` instead. One is that you sometime notice in the output during a lin that grep couldn't find /tmp/xxxxx file but then continues as nothing happend. The second problem is a lot more alarming though. If you do lin -cr on a module that use MQUERY those OPTS will not be passed on properly to $OPTS during that lin. It will however write the correct options to /etc/lunar/local/depends/$MODULE. So the next time you do lin -c (without -r) $MODULE it will actually pick up your MQUERY settings properly. Apache2 is a great module to test this with, simply run lin -cr apache2 and make some random choices. Then abort the lin after the ./configure step and examine config.log and you will notice that the options are missing. Then run lin -c apache2 again and do the above steps again and the options are there. I have located where the problem occur in /sbin/lin in this section of the code: # different approaches for multiple modules (start up downloads first) # and single modules (plain install) if [ -z "$SINGLE_MODULE" ] ; then if [ -z "$TEMP_DOWNLOAD_PIDS" ] ; then export TEMP_DOWNLOAD_PIDS=$(temp_create "download-pids") export TEMP_PREPAREDDEPS=$(temp_create "prepared-depends") export TEMP_CONFIGOPTS=$(temp_create "configopts") fi ----- snip ----- If you move the line "export TEMP_CONFIGOPTS=$(temp_create "configopts")" outside that if-statement everything work just fine. But since I'm not entirely sure where the correct place for that line would be I will leave it for you to fix (sofar) ;) ====================================================================== Relationships ID Summary ---------------------------------------------------------------------- related to 0000338 lin -r <MODULE> doesn't take acco... ====================================================================== ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ratler - 03-12-08 07:49 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- This diff solves the issue. Basically, I'm a novice, but I've managed to resolve quite a few things. I also tried to recompile glibc, it didn't work. Also tried to install the recent updated kernel, I ran into a kernel panic due to having no mkinitrd installed (which I also ran into a deadlock there also as I had no way of installing that without glibc :p ) Anyways, I was thinking of reverting back to my old distro, as Lunar Linux is quite advanced, and I'm just not ready to help out with any of ya folks with the complicating issues yet. But it was a good month of using Lunar Linux, and exploring how distros would vary, though this is my only second distro, and one that I'd recommend to other people too, if they're willing to endure the difficulties. Excuse me that I'm getting off topic. But anyhow..my thanks to y'all, especially the Lunar Linux team...and I wish ya'll well. :) (not sure if this is necessary, but I guess this may as well be considered "resolved" now that I somewhat get how the bug tracker works) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Moe - 02-14-08 21:24 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- This should be resolved by now. The depend-cache mishap has been fixed long ago. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Moe - 03-18-08 16:07 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- No further complains. Its fixed. This is a good thing but there are problems with the way it is currently done. (*) If user is using X this process fails. The Lunar NVIDIA module cannot be built while an X server is active. (*) The process first removes the current module. That breaks the current system's ability to use the NVIDIA module and, hence, nvidia driver. That is not a desired result. If user needs to boot to kernel .old, there will be no nvidia video driver. (*) One does not want to remove the current driver but rather only build a kernel module for the new kernel. (*) While in init 5(or 3) a kernel module can be built for the non-running kernel by using the -K & -k options(i.e., -Kk). I have used that method before when building the nVidia kernel-module manually from a downloaded package. I cannot check that on this Lunar system because the current driver was removed but the nvidia-installer log indicates it is true.(in additional info). ---- Whether user is at init 3 or 5 the build of the NVIDIA module, when there is already a current nvidia-kernel-module of the same version, only requires a new nvidia-kernel-module for the newly built kernel. Typically this is done with the NVIDIA-version_name.pkg program by ./NVIDIA* -aKk [non-running_kernel_version] at a CLI. Here, in the directory where the NVIDIA package is located, that would be ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-1.0-9755-pkg2.run -aKk 2.6.20.3 My memory is a little vague about whether the -K is required but am pretty sure it is. (The -a auto accepts the nVidia proprietary license but may not be desired for Lunar NVIDIA build.) Also I cannot be certain that -Kk will work because the naming/versioning scheme of Lunar replaces the current kernel with a kernel of the same version. The nvidia installer might not like having the currently loaded kernel(uname) being the same as the newly built kernel. ... Since the current module/driver was removed the build with -Kk will not work and I cannot verify. I'll try to check here if/when I build another kernel. The only other option I know about is to *force* user to init 3 before the driver module NVIDIA build is attempted. However, in any event, the current driver should not be removed because it is needed to boot to X using the nvidia driver(in xorg.conf) with the previous.old kernel. ====================================================================== ---------------------------------------------------------------------- sofar - 03-18-07 21:55 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- nvidia's requirements are retarded, nothing prevents a human being from compiling and installing a kernel module while X is active. Otherwise, it reports: /usr/lib64/libgtk-x11-2.0.so: undefined reference to `g_dpgettext' That happens only when glib-2 gets downgraded from 16.1 to 14.6 . Relining gtk+-2 afterwards does not solve the problem. ====================================================================== ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dveatch - 03-30-08 14:11 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Yes you need to down grade glib-2 as it suggests. You will most likely need to relin a number of other packages such as, atk, gtk+-2 and a few others of which I forget. How many need a relin depends on how many glib-2 apps/libs you have compiled. Just follow the dependency chain for seamonkey and that might take care of it. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gb - 04-05-08 19:03 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks. I have both the "gcc" and "gcc3" compilers installed, and the default one is 3.4.6 ("which" is the file in /usr/bin/gcc). I am not completely sure if everything is fine in my system, since I cannot use "lunar optimize" to select the compiler & options (see http://bugs.lunar-linux.org/view.php?id=319). I have manually downloaded the qemu_0.9.0 source file and built it successfully on my system. But when I use "lin qemu", I get the error you can see in the attached file. ("ERROR: "/opt/lunar/gcc3/bin/gcc" either does not exist or does not work") Apparently, this code in the BUILD of the qemu module: ${GCC3_PREFIX:-/opt/lunar/gcc3}/bin/gcc expands to something meaningless: "/opt/lunar/gcc3/bin/gcc" What could be done? Is my system broken or that env variable is not correct or is it outdated? ====================================================================== ---------------------------------------------------------------------- gb - 01-12-08 17:30 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- I noticed that qemu has been recently updated from version 0.9.0 to version 0.9.1 . I guess that means that somebody is using it and it works, because the BUILD script is unchanged from version 0.9.0. Could you please let me know if the module can be built correctly on your system? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- florin - 08-22-08 11:04 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The issue was solved. Also logs from openldap when you try to connect to openldap would be of great value. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ratler - 08-27-07 07:14 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- One more thing, you might have to run db_upgrade in /var/openldap-data followed by a db_recover. After server restart. I had tried to connect my ldap. But it always faild. I had roll back to db 4.5.20 then my system work find. Best Regards ====================================================================== ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ratler - 08-27-07 06:56 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Could you please try again and send us the compile log of openldap. Please make backups before doing so. If neither of the approaches work, make a LDIF dump of your entire ldap database with db 4.5.20. Then upgrade db and rebuild openldap. After that start with a fresh /var/openldap-data and then import that LDIF again. But as I said make sure you have proper backups before doing this. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ratler - 09-09-07 12:00 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- So is this still an issue? If not I'm going to close this bug report. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ratler - 09-14-07 08:32 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- No response. Assuming that it was not a module problem. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- piggy - 09-17-07 09:44 ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Sir: Sorry for reply very late. I just came back from upcountry. Thank you for your advice. Today I follow your instruction on 08-27-07 07:14. My server still have the same problem. These are compile log of Berkerly DB and Openldap. Could you please check them and give me the advices.
